Meridian to Stephenville
48 miles

Another sort of short day today so I could end up at a hotel with Internet access.  Stopped in Hico for some great chicken-fried steak and to see the Billy-the-Kid museum.  Apparently a guy who showed in Hico by the name of William "Bushy" Roberts in the 1940's claimed to be Billy the Kid and I guess made a believer of at least some of the townsfolk.  The official account is that Billy the Kid was killed in the 1880's by Pat Garrett in Ft. Dustin, NM.  The museum focuses on evidence supporting Roberts' claim, and they were very enthusiastic about that position.

Anyway, headed from there to Stephenville, home of Tarleton State University.  A girl I had a crush on in high school went there, and I think she's pretty much the only TSU graduate I've ever known.  Anyway, both the town and the campus are scenic and the people are really friendly.

Hope to step up the mileage tomorrow and maybe try out the camping gear.
