Day 46 - 5/17/04
Fort Steele, BC to Skookumchuck, BC
26 miles

My stuff
Cortez, CO to Salt Lake City, UT

Well, the lady running the bed and breakfast did show up.  The owners were actually out of town, and a very nice lady originally from Newfoundland was managing the place for them. She moved out here to be with her daughter and grandkids.  I managed to trade the breakfast for a dinner, as I was starving by the time she arrived.

A short day of riding, as I wanted to check out Fort Steele Heritage Park, and I needed to do some work on the bike.  Fort Steele is a reconstructed town from the 1890's that you can walk around, see demonstrations, etc.  It was pretty neat, and I learned a lot about life during that time period.  All the attractions don't fully open for a couple more weeks, or I'm sure I could have spent an entire day there.

I ate dinner at the diner across from my hotel.  I learned tonight that up here it is customary to put gravy on french fries.  It tastes pretty good, and I suppose it's not that much different from mashed potatoes and gravy.

Anna and Daniel had a flat on the car trailer in Provo, sparks and everything.  U-Haul fixed the flat within a couple of hours, and they were on their way.
