Inside my room at the Double J - I like the decor!

Ft. Griffin State Park ti Throckmorton
20 miles

Tried camping at Ft. Griffin State Park last night.  It all went pretty well.  Spent the morning checking out the park, since I got in near dark last night.  The park guides were really friendly and helpful.  The fort operated between 1867 and 1881.  It seems like fairly dangerous and unfun duty.  The fort also houses a herd of longhorns that you can walk right up to.  Saw some whitetail deer, a feral hog, and a roadrunner among other wildlife.

Didn't get out of the park until about 11:30 and then immediately had another flat.  By the time I got to Throckmorton it was misting and the wind was blowing about 30 mph in my face, so I decided I'd make today my first rest day.  I've figured out that I need to be on the road at first light to avoid the West Texas winds.  Found a  nice little hotel to hole up in for the night.  Check out the decor in the room she assigned me!  Very nice lady running the place.  My room doesn't have a phone line, so she's letting me use her computer to post this.

The locals recommended a shorter route that parallels a little north of what I had planned, so I'll be going through Munday, Knox City, and on to Guthrie tomorrow.
