4/03/04 Okay, I think I've got things set up the way I want

5/16/04 I'm not sure how often I'll be able to update the web
page as real
hotels with phone lines I can use are becoming scarce. I'll at
least
try and call someone to try and get them to post a note with my
location if at all possible.
Also, since there seems to be a fair amount of people reading this
page, I think I'll put in a plug for my favorite charity. So, if

MS affected my grandmother and a friend of mine, and of course
the MS Society also sponsors a number of charity bike rides.
6/20/04 As you can see, I have made it to Fairbanks, so I won't
be updating this page daily anymore. I plan on intermittently
posting some goings on for at least a few weeks more, since my parents
and some of my friends want to know how things are going as I get
settled in. My current plan is to wrap up the web page after I
get moved into my new office and find long-term housing.
My deepest thanks to the friends, family, and in some cases strangers,
who have emailed me and phoned me with encouragement along the
way. It really made a difference in my spirits to know that
people were rooting for me to make it. I also appreciate the help
that my friends in Houston, Golden, Fairbanks gave me in terms of
mailing stuff to me, helping me move my stuff, putting me up for the
night, and so on. I am also very thankful for the various acts of
generosity from complete strangers that I received during the
trip. I could not have made it without all that help and
encouragement, and it certainly made the trip a lot more enjoyable.
